The Plough Inn is operated as a family partnership.

 

Sue and Steve Martine, with daughter Rachelle and son-in-law Darren Maynard are 'mine hosts' , with Dylan, the Cocker Spaniel (who has been with us since May 06), completing the team

Sue & Steve .... Originated from the East End of London and lived in Stanford le Hope and other parts of Thurrock, Essex for 30+ years. Needless to say, we miss visits to Upton Park to watch the Hammers, but manage to take in some games 'up north' !!  We were heavily involved with Stanford le Hope Cricket Club before we bought the Plough.  website : www.slhcc.net

Steve : A teacher for 31 years in Thurrock (Essex) and Newham (East London). Was a Head of Year, Excellence in Cities  / Gifted and Talented Co-ordinator, Examinations Officer and Head of Humanities at various times, teaching Geography, Geology and other Humanities based subjects. Also worked P/T in the Youth Service in both Newham and Brentwood (Essex) as a Field Officer / Leader for 'The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme'.

Involved with Stanford le Hope Cricket Club for more than 25 years, as Player, Youth Organiser, Hon. Secretary, Bar Manager and latterly Club Chairman. While running the Club Bar completed a variety of training courses put on by the British Institute of Innkeeping, and decided to look for a rural freehold pub.

Hence the Plough !!

Rachelle .... now teaching Science locally, and usually seen around the Plough at the weekends or on a Monday evening.

 

Darren ...... Opens the Pub in the mornings and works in the bar until 4pm.
